Putting the Fan in Fantasy Football

So many different viewpoints have been heard in the last couple months regarding this subject among friends and coworkers. I have heard everything from you aren't going out because you have a fantasy draft to fantasy football is ruining the NFL.  It is funny to think about how we as  Americans (and others as well outside the US) spend so much time on a silly game. In my time waiting for my job to begin in a couple weeks I can honestly say I have wasted hours looking for potential waiver wire pickups and exploring trade options.

There is one point that I would like to address though. Fantasy Football IS NOT ruining the NFL. In fact I think the NFL is what it is today because of Fantasy Football. I would argue that fantasy football has made the casual fan a lot more educated about the game then say even ten years ago. Never mind the DVOA stats and all that other stuff that has been coming out. It all boils down to the minimal to best research you do for your respective "team". Its near impossible to not know doing minimal research how someones offensive line is affecting your RB or how the rookie QB has great rapport with his TE. All these things make NFL fans pay attention to every team and I believe that is why the NFL is as popular as it is today. Well that and the hard salary cap creating parody but that is a different story for a different entry.
